Twelve-year old Gabriel Wilson discovers from his dying mother the existence of the Necromancers, a race of people who possess paranormal powers, but he doesn't realize the crucial part he plays in their survival.

As his mother tells him a tale of the orientation journey of three thirteen-year old adversary Necromancers, he makes a startling discovery… evil is found within his own family.  While learning about these three unlikely heroes, who must overcome their differences and work together in order to conquer an evil nemesis that is bent on the annihilation of all “Ordinaries” and the domination over all Necromancers, Gabriel has a hard time believing the secret of his inheritance. As he struggles with his new identity, the impending death of his mother is never far from his thoughts.
